Using Microsoft's DebugView with Insight Connector 4

Using Microsoft’s DebugView with Insight Connector 4

In certain Insight Connector testing and troubleshooting situations a Bynari representative may request that you provide a debug log using Microsoft’s DebugView for Windows. The procedure for obtaining a debug log is as follows.

    1. Install the current version of DebugView for Windows.

        · The current version of DebugView for Windows can be found at:

          http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896647.aspx

    2. Install the current debug version of Insight Connector.

        · The current standard debug version of Insight Connector can be found at:

          http://www.bynari.net/public/products/InsightConnector4/latest/debug

        · The current Kolab-compatible debug version of Insight Connector can be found at:

          http://www.bynari.net/public/products/InsightConnector4/latest/kolab/debug

    3. Start DebugView for Windows by double-clicking on its icon.

    4. Start Microsoft Outlook.

    5. Use Microsoft Outlook in a way which reproduces the issue you are testing or troubleshooting.

Note: DebugView for Windows must remain running in the background.

    6. Close Microsoft Outlook.

    7. Select "Save" from the "File" menu in DebugView for Windows.

    8. Type a name for the log file in the "File Name" textbox, or use the default name provided by DebugView for Windows.

    9. Choose "DebugView Data (*.LOG)" in the "Save as type" dropdown menu.

    10. Click the "Save" button.

Now you are ready to send an email, with the log file attached, to the Bynari representative who requested the debug log.

Note: Please be sure that the log file is an attachment to the email. Please do not paste the log information into the body of the email.
